  • How much power can a cam swap give you??

    Hey everyone,
I am going to be swapping a new cam into my 91 RS once I get it back from the paint shop. I know its hard to tell what kind of power gains will be achieved, but if some people could just throw out a couple educated guess, I would have an idea. Here are the details.

    Original Cam:
    Lift Intake .350
    Lift Exhaust .384
    Duration Intake 179
    Duration Exhaust 194
    Lobe Seperation 109.0

    New Cam: (LT1 Cam)
    Lift Intake .447
    Lift Exhaust .459
    Duration Intake 205
    Duration Exhaust 207
    Lobe Seperation 117.0

305 TBI w/ current supporting mods Full Exhaust, headers, intake manifold & stiffer valve springs.

Any Thoughts on power increase? How about the exhaust note?

I would be surprised if you saw 15-20 horsepower from just the cam alone. Your exhaust note will likely not change enough to notice.

i hope u having tuning stuff or a tuner, cuz u really need injectors and better fuel pump. thirdgen.org is somewhat up(still updating the site) go there and look in the TBI section for a LT1 cam swap and u will see what it takes. my buddy derek has a 305 TBI, with ported tpi heads, zz4 cam(bout the same as a LT1) intake, exhuast, etc. and he is puttin 310hp to the flywheel.
