  • Last header bolt question

I found out that the header bolts were only 3/4" long. Two of the holes were stripped and Im going to try 1 inch bolts, is this going to work or is it going to easily strip the remaining heads.

The fange is 3/8" on the headers, are there any 1 1/4" header bolts that I could try?

I don't think a longer bolt is going to do anything for you. I had 1 stripped bolt and I bought a screw, slightly bigger than the stock size. I put it into the hole, hammered it a little to get it started, then wrenched it in. It held tight. I didn't want to do it, but pulling the heads to do a helicoil was out of the question.

Try a self tapping metal bolt. Roughly the same size as stock. Jam it in. You can drill it and helicoil it down the road if you ever pull your heads. Mine is still strong after over a year.

Good thinking with the self tapping bolt. Where could I pick up one that will be strong enough?

Actually, could I get a oversized stud bolt, and then use a nut on the other end, this way it would be a little stronger?? I thinking this may be the way to go
