  • '00 firebird front ground effect missing!?!

I dunno how this happened but i knocked this off before when it was icy and today whenever i got to my house, i guess the drivers front ground effect blew off on the interstate....what is this part called? does anyone know how much these are to replace and where i can get one? Thanks for any help!

You must have an after market ground effects kit on your car. The 2000 Firebirds and Formulas never had a 2-piece ground effect kit. The front facia was all one piece. Did you buy your car used? Shoot a picture of the entire front end so we can see the other side easier.

Here's a pic of a 2000 Firebird showing no factory ground effects.

There were plenty of firebirds mainly the 3.8's put out with the factory ground kits. And they are just add ons unlike the Trans am which the front and rear spoilers was part of the entire piece. Dealers also installed them aftermarket as well. They had to do something to get them off the showroom floor.

I was an option for the base firebird only. It used to be called the W68 special appearance package on the '93-'97 cars. See the pic below. It came with fog lights a 2-piece front ground effects and some pieces on the sides and rear as well.

LT4KM, 160' TS, MAF ends, TB-BP, GMPP 1.6 R/R, SLP CAI, LCA, Adj. tierod, BMR tower brace, 17x9"F/R, 275/40R17 GY F1 tires. WS6 Muffler, LS1 DS. 21mm rear sway bar. Soon to be LT4 heads, intake, & HOT cam

I thought the ground effects kit was discontinued after the '98 redesign. I know there were dealer installed kits on some of the newer base models, but that is still considered aftermarket as GM doesn't have a part number for it.

W68 Appearance Package... I guess you'd refer the part that's missing as a chin spoiler or front valance, even though it's not connected to the other side. If you look on your door jam (where your RPO codes are), you'll see W68...if so, it's a factory option. I see plenty of 3.8 Bird 98+ with the package. Basically body extentions all the way around the car...

My fault. I athought it was a discontinued option after the 3.8 redesign. I've never seen one with that option around here. I've seen many '97 and under with it though.

Okay... I see now. I was under the impression it was discontinued.

GMPartsDirect.com has it listed as part # 12455122. They are calling it the Lower Left Side Molding Assembly for the W68 RPO package. The image leaves a little to be desired as it didn't really show a picture of the ground effects themselves, but that's at least a number to start with.

                      Not surprised...

                      Try a salvage yard...

Or, go to www.firebirdv6.com and post a inquiry for that piece. I know some guys take it off...you might can get your hands on one.
