Car is still backfiring...Could it be detonation?

    that sounds pretty important...i will check that out and run it by my autotech teacher and a friend of mine who is a car genius...most of the time. Oh, if your right, i will want to give you a big fat kiss because this has been bothering me for a little while. lol j/p..just be glad you dont live in ohio.

        alright i hooked it up to the scanner today and here is what i got

        LIFT's- bank 1..133 counts
        bank 2..133 counts
        Knock retard- 0 degree
        knock sensor- OK
        Injector 1- 3.1 ms
        2- 3.1 ms
        TPS .52 volts
        Angle 0 degree

        There is more but i tried picking the most important stuff, tell me if this works. If you need to know something else i can hook it back up. Thanks
        Also, i noticed that the scanner said my car was idling at 650 (give or take a couple rpms) but my tack said almost a grand...i did get a new cluster at the junk yard off of a 93 camaro lt1. That could be the cause of the different range.

          What type of scanner are you using? Does it have the capability to record a series of frames(movie some scanners call it)?

          It really helps to paint the big picture if you can capture a series of at least a series of frames that runs from a dead stop up through several shifts at 3/4 throttle, especially since you mentioned that you felt like it was missing in the upper RPM range. You can also do the same but at WOT to capture PE Mode data. The fact that your LTFT's were equal at idle is usually a good sign, but by just looking at one frame, it's impossible to see the 'big picture'.

            I use a TechII GM scanner...and it is a little hard to go out on the road or anything to really test it when im at school, but it would be something to look into to. i'll see if i can get more info
