  • This is a music question...

One of my friends today was going through some of the CDs in my changer and he said to me that I must be the only "black" person in the US that likes rock music... I meant no racal or otherwise remarks when I said that... But that is exactly how he worded it... I can't be the only person in the US that listens to Rock music... RIGHT...
    Thanks

LoL...hey, rock is good. Personally, I listen to everything...all depends on the moment (believe me, both of my cars has the system to back it up, both are set up pretty much the sameway). I grew up on RnB...then jump ship to Rap...now it's country and alternative and a host of other genres in the mix...keep a good mix in the car and everything will be okay... I know I do...

that reminds of this time a guy in a surburban (big rims and flashy paint job) was bumping "project pat" (the younger guys should know this artist). He had the nerve to drive up next to me and say to my girlfriend, "yeah, you like this sh*t don't you??" I merly grined and put in that same CD skipped to the same song he was supposedly "bumpping" and jacked my monsoon up, radiating marvously nice highs while my RF 10" sub was packing the bass. Oh yeah, the glory of pleasure of a nice system to put that guy in the surburban in his place...I practically blew the doors off! LoL...that was a real pleasure, c;mon guys when are you gonna learn???

I assume you meant black person liking rock & roll. Tell him he's nuts. I was at guitar center about a month ago and there was a "black" guy playing the heck out of Metalica. I used to know a "black" drummer in a local rock band called Shakin' Grace. He is now playing with the Funkadelics. Rock on Ben. Ask him if he has ever heard of a guy named "Jimmy Hendricks".

As for the other thread within a thread, I just turn up Boortz. That usually scares them away.

I listen to mostly rock with some other stuff thrown in from time to time. A little reggae, clasical, and every once in a while country. When I had my old car I had a pretty loud system and when the ricers or ghetto wannabes would pull up blasting that crap that they are notorious for listening to I'd crank up some thing like tool or Korn or whatever I had in at the time. You should see the looks on there face if you drown out their Nelly with Rancid or even funnier some Lynyrd Skynyrd or CCR. I love Southern rock and that's one of the last things they would expect to hear drowning out their ghetto music. I'm workin on my new system for the Z and should have the best sounding one to date for me. I'm not into competing or anything I just want excellent sound quality and I want it to sound like I have a concert going on in my car if I feel like cranking it up......Later

I like almost any type of music, but I don't consider Rap to be music. It's loud, vulgar, hateful, lacks real musical talent, and it shouldn't be grouped with Rhythm & Blues. I think Rappers are some of the scumiest and most destructive people in society. Also techno-pop is sickening after about 10 seconds of repetitive machine music.

Some of us can actually still hear the music when the car is running

I like to torture my speakers with good ol Heavy Metal.

                        Thanks yal...
I felt some what stupid when he said that to me, but at least I am not the only one that loves ROCK... and HEAVY METAL...

Hopefully soon I will have my flowmasters and have both music and exhaust rumbling inside and out... Just like a true American Muscle Car is suppose to have...

                        Thanks again...

I figured that I didn't want to limit my musical influences to one thing. I used to be very narrow minded but now I have seen the light. I listen to everything from Johny Cash to Nas, from Audioslave to CCR, and everything in between. There is not one genre that I don't listen to. My Mom influenced me with Classical and my Dad taught me about Woodstock. Now my brother got me into Country. All of it is good.

I like some bass and a nice beat personally... But I can't stand Rap music even though it has a nice beat some times, what I dislike about it is that almost every word or every other word is profanity... I can't stand country because it seems to put me to sleep and sleep at the wheel is not a good thing according to some people... I can stand Heavy Metal and Rock because they give me the beat and the guitar sounds from an electric guitar keep me a wake...

Oh... and Techno... I useto love but it got to the point that the repetitive sound was putting me to sleep at the wheel and almost had an accident once so had to give it up...

                            Thanks though... Later...
