  • Steering rack

Is this something that can be easily pulled out, w/out having to drop much else? Or would the rack require a lift and other parts of the car being dropped?

Basicaly what I'm trying to get at is if this is something I can do in my backyard w/ my dad. I know some racks just bolt in, so I'm wondering if this would be one of those cases.

It a piece of cake. Put the front end up in the air, remove the wheels (if you have very wide fronts) Disconnect the tie rods from the steering knuckles, unbolt the steering shaft from the rack, Loosten the fluid lines and let the fluid drip into a container until is ceases, remove the two bolts that secure the rack to the front K member and out she comes. Reinstalltion is the reverse, add fluid and bleed the system.
