Ok, so i finally got my PCM in from Madz28.com and i gotta say i love it. Nice improvement. Well i got the power tune, the fans adjusted for the 160* thermostat, top speed taken off and redline programed to 6000(don't know what stock is). I also got the shifts firmed up. My question is, I have the transmission perfrom button.....is it now useless? If its not and will firm the shifts even more, is it safe to do so? Thanks guys, Ryan.

When I had my PCM reprogrammed, Bryan at PCMforless said regarding the button on the console: "Yes, the performance mode is set up." So I would think it would work. However, I'd ask Ion to verify.
BTW, stock redline is 5800.94 Black T/A GT, Advanced Induction 355, 3200 stall, built 4L60E, Moser 9", Baer Brakes, Shooting for 11s...

I was told about 3 years ago that using the transmission perfance button if you have shift firmness installed increases tranny pressure too high resulting in early transmission failure. I never use the button anymore since my line pressure is higher with the installed HPP3 shift firmness which is much better then the button anyways. Using it together wouldn't be wise. I used it together for a little while on, and off not knowing better, and the shifts were too hard anyways. (I could see that much causing damage. Much better off.)94 Formula LT1 (Aqua Metallic) - Auto. - 104,000 miles - Charcoal Leather Mods: Magnaflow Muffler, Lingenfelter CAI, MadZ28 Tune, 160F Hyp. T-Stat., 1LE Elbow, & Summit Cutout. Ok, so i talked to Ion just now and he says the perfrom button will actually be softer because it will be the factory setting(silly me forgot to mention that on the order sheet) but it doesn't bother me. I hear firm shifts are better for the transmission anyway. I'll just put on the "soft mode" when its rainy or something.2006 Saturn Ion Redline

The performance shift offsets only spike the pressure at the shift points and it won't go above 240 psi anyways. I had mine jacked way up and still have the tranny working for the last 6 years. If you need to use it, then use it. Too much pressure all the time is bad but that gets set in the main force motor amps table and there's no way Ion maxed that all out, so don't worry about it. it's not like you're driving around at max line pressure all the time anyway. With the blower, I bring my pressures in real soon - my pressures are shifted way to the left & up probably 3x what yours are & with offset tables straightlined at 20 & 40 and it hasn't harmed anything so far.
