89 gta mas air flow light???? help

hello there my 89 gta has its check engine light on says the mas airflow is bad, well i had it changed adn then had teh code erased but it poped back on so my check engine light says mas air flow but it is new, the car was like this since i bought it any other sugestions? i took it to one mecanic but he did not knwo what it could be but he has heard of it befor

make sure there isnt corrosion in the connectors and that there arent any shorts in the wire

how does the car run? often if the MAF is bad then the car will run poorly/ ont idle well, but when unplugged it runs much better...this would be somewhere to start diagnosing, but what 88bird said check the wiring and connections to see if there is a problem there too

Which MAF code did you get? There are codes for high and low flow, and another for the failure of the "burnoff" circuit. Any of these could be caused by a failure of the power supply to the MAF. Did you check the fuse? The fuse supplies power via an orange wire to both the MAF relay, and to the Burnoff relay (either of which could also be defective), and then these relays connect to the MAF sensor. Lots of possibilities beside the MAF sensor itself.
