How does the Madz28 shift firmness compare to the Hypertech shift firmness? Are they the same, or does 1 shift harder?

Well i don't know aout the Hypertech but the Madz28 was night and day compared to stock. Very nice, strong shifts now. You shouuld go with the Madz28 cause, they can program for your mods and its cheaper. The hypertech is over $300, unless you buy it used of course. The madz28 tune is only 80 dollars plus $125 corecharge, which you get 115 back when you send in your old PCM.
I'm very happy with my tune
Oops, i just saw that you have the hypertech already. Plus you mod list isn't that extensive(like mine). So you may be able to get away with the hypertech. But i hear as soon as you add headers its a good idea to get the mail order tune.2006 Saturn Ion Redline

Or you can buy a cable for $100 and get a "tune" e-mailed to you for $50. Then you will have the cable to update it again for free and you can run diagnostics on your car with the cable.2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning

I think I'm going to sell my Hypertech programmer on EBAY, and get the MadZ28 tune. I have had this thing for 5 years! I should be able to get a FREE extra 13 horsepower/torque with the tune he claims, and make about 30.00 dollars profit after selling the Hypertech on Ebay. Works for me!
If this tune is all I hear about I'm going to kick myself for not doing it many years ago. Main reason being didn't realize it was as easy as it was until I read his MadZ28's site. Is leaning out the gas going to hurt anything for the extra horsepower. Going to order it today.

Does not having the 160 thermostate just the 180 reduce the horsepower/torque in the MadZ28 tuning? If not I'll keep the 180.94 Formula LT1 (Aqua Metallic) - Auto. - 104,000 miles - Charcoal Leather Mods: Magnaflow Muffler, Lingenfelter CAI, MadZ28 Tune, 160F Hyp. It had been a very good idea to reprogramm the engine fans to kick on earlier than stock do, with the 160º thermo...a few ponies extra you had gained...
Now, I recommend to perform a throttle body bypass too.
