does the hypertech chip make any noticeable difference it claims 10-20hp, some i've heard say its the greatest thing in the world, i've also heard it dosn't do anything. Also do you have to run 92 or 93 octane or can you run 91?

Its not a chip-its a programmer and reflashs your pcm. Yes, it does work. But if you need to take your car in for engine work, you need to reflash the pcm back to OE specs that are stored in the Hypertech unit and re-re-flash ( actually download) the new program again from the hypertech unit.Comment

You might want to mention the specific year and model of your car. As you can see from the answer, by not knowing what year, some people think you are talking about the plug-in, replaceable chip that is used up to the 1993 model year, and others think you are talking about the "programmer" that is required to alter the flash memory in the fixed-chip PCM used from 1994 on.
