  • Still Having Low Coolant Light Appearing, HELP!

Thanks for all the advise from last week.

However, after removing the low coolant sensor, cleaning it in hot water with a soft brush(not too dirty), and reinstalling.....I still get the low coolant light appearing.

What else could be the problem??? Help!!!!

I would't think that the sensor is bad after 52K miles.

    Thanks, Paul

I wouldn't think that the power window motors would go bad so frequently either. For what it's worth, I tried to clean my sensor and it didn't work either. Mine's on order and should arrive any day. Some parts last a long time, other fry on a regular basis. If you've bled the system of air several times and you still get the light, time for a new sensor.

disconnect the wiring to the sensor, it will leave the low coolant lite off, then check coolant level the old fashion way.....open the cap and look inside!

        Pete,

I had performed the radiator level check, as you said, the "old fashion way" with the engine cold and hot. The coolant level in the radiator was full at both instances.

Yes been there done that. Pay the $42.00 for a new one to cut the light out.

The manual I have says that the light will continue coming on until you have driven it 3 successful times without a problem. Then the light will go out.

I'm not sure what the logic is for that but who knows?

You can have just about any auto parts store hook up a code reader to your OBDII PCM and read as well as clear the codes. If the code reappears after having turned of your ignition for a while and then running your car again, it is a bad sensor.

                  bleed the cooling system

open the lower bleed hose and then close it
                  then do the top

                  and top off the cap

                    Thanks Guys! It's fixed

I did all the above and nothing worked until I replaced the 56k original sensor with a new one.
No issue since the sensor was replaced. I still cannot believe that such a simple designed, hermetically(sp?) sealed sensor would fail at 56k miles.
