ok i installed an electric mezeire pump and started filling the system w/ coolant next thing i know i got coolant coming out the weephole on the bottom of the pump, it obviously should have been blocked and now that i think about it it WASNT in the mezeire directions... whats the easiest thing to do since there is coolant in there now and i really dont feel like pulling the pump/radiator to tap another hole for a plug on it... can i just take like a self tapping screw w/ some rtv into the hole would that work? or is there an expandable plug i could use or some jb weld do you think? thanks

Personally, I would drain the coolant and tap the hole. There is a time saving method:
*Drain Coolant
*Remove the top radiator support and front fan assembly
*Remove water pump bolts
*Pull pump foreward, do not disconnect hoses!
*Tap the hole and put in a plug with some thread sealant. You should have plenty of room to work from underneath.
*Reinstall.
I can't remember if you have to remove the serpentine belt, if memory serves me I did. It should take you maybe an hour, tops. I don't think I would trust any other repair.

I used a small screw and JB Weld till I got around to changing the pump. No leaks for the eight months that it was like that.96 Camaro Z28/A4,Vortech elbow,Moroso CAI,Flowmaster.Addco PHR,LCA,160* Stat,pcmforless,1LE Driveshaft,1LE A/C delete pulley,1LE Front sway bar,Strut brace, sub frames, LT4 knock module,255 lph pump,Cutout,

Is it possible that it is leaking from the brass freeze plug in place of the drive shaft?Originally posted by paxton350ok i installed an electric mezeire pump and started filling the system w/ coolant next thing i know i got coolant coming out the weephole on the bottom of the pump, it obviously should have been blocked and now that i think about it it WASNT in the mezeire directions... whats the easiest thing to do since there is coolant in there now and i really dont feel like pulling the pump/radiator to tap another hole for a plug on it... can i just take like a self tapping screw w/ some rtv into the hole would that work? or is there an expandable plug i could use or some jb weld do you think? thanks
