  • Painting brake calipers...

Does anyone know where Imight find a site or some information on the process for painting brake calipers? I will need to know how to remove them, prep them, paint them, and put them back on. I want to do some mods, but I am broke, so I figured this would be a relatively cheap way of improving the Camaro's appearance. Any info would be much appreciated.

Why? www.eastwoodcompany.com makes a kit that works nicely. You don't have to remove the calipers you can leave them on. I used one of these kits on my Wife's car...turned out REAL well...I'm quite pleased with it.

I only used 1/2 of the mix and got tired of putting coats on...there is MORE than enough paint for 4 calipers in this kit.

On my car I actually removed the calipers and tore the brakes apart, but I was replacing the pads anyhow and wanted to sand blast the calipers (9yrs of muck on them) I did this about 3 years ago. With only a 4yr old car, I doubt you will have to go to this extreme.

When I think its time to re-paint my calipers, I'll be using the eastwoodcompany kit...I've already bought it just for future use, LOL.

I just put high temp. paint 1500 gef. F. after a good cleaning of the calipers and rotor hubs. They have lasted for quite a while.

...and one more thing. I found that if you use any type of spray on and wash off wheel cleaner, it can eat the caliper paint and make it peel off.
