We would be glad to help, but like Kevin above me eluded to, we need a bunch more details of the motor.

How are you measuring the piston to deck clearances and the P to V clearances?

General rule of thumb on a small block is to ideally have .080" PTV clearance on the intake, and .100" on the exhaust. You can go with much less, but you are taking a gamble if you ever float the valves.

A stock bottom end LT1 has the pistons .017"-.018" in the hole. Meaning the stock piston to deck clearance is .017"-.018". I don't know which head gaskets you plan on using, but if you use the popular Felpro 1074's, they have a compressed thickness of .039".

I'm assuming that your measuring .008" as the the exhaust just to be safe on the intake valve correct? So if you are measuring a .008" PTV clearance with no head gasket, then you would at minumum have .064" clearance once the gasket is in place. It sounds like those heads have probably been milled. You can probably get away with the .064" deck clearance, but like I said, it would be a gamble. You can go with a thicker head gasket to gain maybe another .020".

Are you using clay or Plastigauge to measure the PTV clearance without the head gasket?
