I have a 1995 Z28 A-4 with 3.42 gear, cia and had my cam degreed because I had to replace timing chain (factory cam). Just the other day a guy driving a new M3 pulls up beside me and ask me how fast is my car. I told him it was ok. He said he heard they were fast and he wanted to see how fast his car was. We hit around 30 mph. He pulled only a half car for about a 1/4 mile and when it seemed like I was going to go around him, he starts to come in my lane, so I got out of it. He beat me.

    I think I Should
get a hot cam package, headers and catback.

Would that make a big difference? Any ideas would help! Cant let this happen again!!!!!!!!

You do realize that a new M3 is a low 13 second car, right?

That sounds about right...got a friend with an M3 (one of those rich mofos that has no clue about cars) and trust me those bad boys are fast! He has the SMG tranny and pretty sure he can click off low 13s easy...333hp out of a 3.2 litre engine...that's impressive. Oh...he can smoke me, kinda.

No offense to you intended because that is a fast car. However he probably has no idea of the difference between an LT1 car and an LS1 car. He'll find himself next to an LS1 car with a good driver soon and will not be so lucky.
LS15 Power! Another LSx engine coming soon.

Just remember, there's always someone else that going to be faster. Put on the mods that make you happy and be content. A new M3 is nothing to sneeze at, then again it should be for that price.

Although best recorded time I've seen for a new M3 is a 13.2, I have heard of them pulling of flat 13's with no mods at all. Chances are you won't come across a modified one, but if you do, the ones you really gotta look out for are the ones that are chipped. I don't know why, but for some reason a simple performance chip does wonders on those cars.

From what I've heard 13.2 with a pro driver, and large clutch drops.... remember, they rev to like 8 grand. Most stock LS1 guys will waste them from a stop without a problem. I know a fellow M3 Roadster guy who thought he was faster, but was quite surprised to watch tail lights the whole run of a LS1 Camaro. Pretty sure that the 333hp is flywheel too, at like 7900rpms.

The only real advantage the LS1 has over the M3 is torque.

For $115k, you could tell the Jack to sip a Perrier while you drive your new bird home and get your new Viper for the race.

The thing about the high zoot Beemers, though, is that they are majorly luxurious & comfortable, but transform into a good handling powerhouse when the pedal is mashed. I'll never be speaking from first-hand experience cause I will never have the buckazoids to smoke cubans and buy one of those pimp wagons anyway... Sometimes those guys try to show me the reds at a metered on ramp, then I take the opportunity to show them that all that crap they read about their car in car & driver don't apply against a souped up Firebird with an attitude problem.
