I have a 02 Z28 35th Anniversary 6-speed with a magnaflow cat back. Well I just bought a clear airlid for $50 from a friend of mine. I of course did the free ram air modifcation when I installed it. I took the gromet from the old lid and put it into the new one along with the sensor. Also the smog pump hose I blocked off with a rag and clamp and also taped it off. Well here the problem the car ran fine for about 2 days then it threw a code. I went to autozone and go it scanned, i dont have the code in front of me, but it was something like trouble with air injection or something like that. Anyway I reset the computer by disconneting the battery for about 30 hr then started the car and no code. I drove it for about 2 days and while driving it threw the code again. Well i reset it twice and about 2 days later does the exact same thing. Anybody have this problem before?

what's the exact code...
Did you connect your IAT sensor?
Lids are a simple simple mod...surprised if even threw a code.

AIR is hand in hand with the smog pump as that is the pump that does the AIR injection for emissions. I'm not sure what mod you are doing to block the pump and what you are gaining from it, but that will be the reason for the code.

If you are blocking off the air intake hose for the AIR system, that is not good.Tracy

The blocked AIR hose could easilly be the problem. If you plugged up the air supply to the AIR pump, its not pumping anything. The PCM cycles the AIR pump, and looks at the O2 sensors to see if they are measuring the presence of the extra air from the AIR pump.... if not, the PCM sets a code.
The correct way to install the lid is to get a small "breather" type air filter, and put that on the hose to the AIR pump. Stuffing rags in something as part of a mod is really not a good idea, and sort of sloppy.Fred
