  • Exhaust upgrade

    Hello
    I recently purchased a 2002 Camaro SS. I have 2 questions.
1)Can I change the current exhaust setup to make it the center mounted dual exhaust (SLP kind).
    or
    2) Should I spend the money on a Borla Exhaust system?

Which is better for performance and HP?
    Thanks

the borla will give you slighly more perf gain... its pricey though.

have you considered the slp loudmouth? its the most perf. gain system out there...and plenty loud too.....alot cheaper than a borla. and its all stainless steel. www.slpeng.com

you can change over to the center mount.....no problem. just contact SLP parts.

As far as individual systems go....You'll find all sorts of opinions as to which is "better". Almost like wine conesuirs. The fact is that most 3" catback exhausts will give about the same gain give or take 1 or 2 HP from what I've read.

An exhaust is a good mod in a lot of ways. Not only does it increase performance, it can make the car sound more aggresive and personalize the looks of your car.

Think about what you'd like to get from one before you decide. How loud do you want it? Tone? Center mounted tips/two on the left/ one per side? Exhaust tips?

Look at a lot of systems. Thunderracing.com had a good deal on my Borla when I got it...$550 or so and has a good reputation. Loudmouth is pretty loud but has a great tone. One unique exhaust that I don't see much is the GMMG exhaust which is similar to the loudmouth....but maybe not as quite as loud. If you look around you can find soundclips that can help....Good Luck!

Go with the SLP exhaust system. Not only will you get the most performance gain for your money you will get the custom look with the center exhaust.
