Does a catalytic converter with a slight rattle hurt performance any? My maganaflow converter arrived 2 days ago, and hasnt been installed yet. A mechanic told me to hold onto it, but said if your performance isnt being hurt then dont bother changing it until it gets worse. I dont believe my performance is being hurt any. Its a very low noise rattle. Can only hear it when your outside of the car, and still its not very loud. You have to really listen for it. Already bought the part should I go ahead, and install it, or wait for it to get louder. The guy was not from a muffler shop. I will be getting it done at a muffler shop.
