For the most part, the Loudmouth on an LT1 car sounds obnoxious. It sounds good at idle but once you hit the gas it sounds like a redneck pick-em up truck! On an LS1, the Loudmouth sounds very different and isn't nearly as bad. This is my opinion and I'm stickin to it!

Performance gains will definitely be there. I put the LM 1 on last spring, and I can tell you I instantly noticed a difference in throttle response. It didn't feel like it was "choking" anymore. You don't realize just how restrictive the factory exhaust system is until you put a good, aftermarket system on.
As far as how the LM sounds on an LT1 car in person, I couldn't tell you. Steve would be the one to ask. However, on an LS1, it's a sweet tune. As an example... I had my Cousin with me last fall. We were going down a back road, and I opened it up on a straightaway. I had it close to wide open throttle when he said "Holy #%&*!!! This thing sounds like a #@$%& cigarette boat!!!"
The sound is a bit different for the LS1 and LT1. Just make sure you listen to the sound clips online.

This link is for LMPerformance.com, which is where I got mine. For whatever reason, SLP's website only has the LM systems listed for the LS1 cars.
That would be because its technically an LS1 system .
LMPerformance is a great place to pick up a system from. I bought most of my parts there (plus they're a site sponsor) and have been very pleased with their service. The only other place I would recommend would be Summit.

thounder racing should have them just orderd alot of stuff form them, their greate to talk to. Just buy the loud mouth 1 and 2 and switch them.
Why would you buy 2 cat-backs if you're only going to use one?? Just buy one of them (e.g. Loudmouth) and, if you wanna change it, buy the other muffler/resonator (e.g. Loudmouth II bullet muffler). There's no reason to buy 2 cat-backs.

Loudmouth kits are cat-backs. Also, 3" tailpipes would be just a little too much flow, i.e. lack of backpressure. Its a 3" intermediate pipe that splits to twin 2.5" tailpipes. As far as emissions, cat-backs do not fall into the category of emission-controlled parts. Only your state DMV has any say about them. At least, that's the way it is in CA. Hope this helps.
in that order. My favorite of all of them, sadly enough was the Flowmaster. On an LT1 car I liked the sound of it best off all. When it rusted out I replaced it with the 2otl, which was also very nice, but was a little quiet for me.
So when I went to my LS1, I figured the LMII would be a good place to start, since the 2otl was too tame, and according to specs the flowmaster doesn't flow enough for an LS1. This was a huge mistake. First off, the LS1 does not develop nearly as throaty of an exhaust note. I love the power but imho the LT1 pwns it sound wise. The LMII droned like crazy, and although it was crazy loud, there was no depth to it.
If you just want power - pick up a used SLP dual/dual from someone selling it. It makes 5% of the volume of other systems but flows every bit as well. Cheap and you keep civility.
If you want liveable volume, the Corsa is very nice. From what I have heard it is by far the quietest at steady state cruising, but screams when you're on it.
If you decide to go loudmouth, buy it used as well. They sell for about $100-150 used CONSTANTLY, because people are always getting rid of them because they are too loud - or when they upgrade to headers/no cats.
