Hey everyone,
This is a 3rd gen problem, but it may relate to 4th gens. I forget how my 95 Z28's door latch worked. Anyway...
My drivers side door doesnt latch tight. When the door is latched, it will move around about 1/8-3/16". This doesn’t become a problem till I go over rough roads. IT IS LOUD! It seems that the door latch doesn’t hold the door tight to the bump stops. I replaced the latch and it didn’t help. I actually don’t want the door to be held against the stops because if it does, the door will not be flush with the quarter panel. I had the problem fixed temporarily by placing a 1/8” thick piece of rubber in between the bump stop & the body of the car keeping the door pushed out against the latch. Now that the car has new paint (And about 100 other new things on it) I dont want to use my ghetto fix anymore. How can I fix this problem the right way? Does GM make different thickness bump stops?
