  • LT1 Root Supercharger

Do they make one for the LT1? I see this from Magnus Products http://www.magnusonproducts.com/imag...-ON-ENGINE.jpg and they basically only sell eaton superchargers and I was considering something along those lines where i won't have to do all the tubing and all that stuff and I can plop this guy on and reap the benefits after a rebuild and a forging and such. I was wondering if anyone knew where you can get a root supercharger and how do they compare to a centrifugal supercharger?

They are claiming up to a 40% gain... I know that procharger says up to 65 to 70%... I was just wondering what i'm look at as far as cost of the two different superchargers. A procharger kit is around $4500 and i can't find prices for the LT1 root charger because i Can't find if they actually sell one. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know they don't make one for the LT1. I've seen that blueprint before and it got my hopes up. It would take a custom manifold to mount it on and even then there is so little room under the hood/cowl. I just spent the last 2 weeks searching all over for potential manifolds to adapt to fit a roots blower and the hood/cowl clearance issue finally made me give up.

There is a guy on LS1LT1.com who is building his own intake manifold. He said that he may start selling them once he gets the first one done.

      Blower Intake 1

      Blower Intake 2

      Blower Intake 3

      Blower Intake 4

      Hope this helps.

2 through 4 are old threads that no longer have valid pics.

The pics of the intake manifold in Pic 1 look pretty nice. It looks like he is just learning to weld aluminum, but a nice design nevertheless.

all these have a weird span of years. says that the supercharger will fit a 1991 to a 2001?? thats saying it will fit 3 different motors?

If you do another search, try "Rootes" - more common spelling (although it can be spelled both ways).

A rootes supercharger will give you very good throttle response, but that will come at the expense of gas mileage. Rootes superchargers place a greater parasitic load on the crankshaft than do centrifugal superchargers. That kills your gas mileage.

I think you'll be much happier with a centrifugal charger on the street.
