I just bought a black 00 ws6 convertible automatic i heard stock hp is around 335 what is stock 1/4 time for this car. It has a magnaflow cat back. Also i have some pinion bearing noise so i am going to have to dive into the rearend so i thought i should do the carrier bearings also and was thinking about a new higher ratio ring and pinion. Anybody now the stock ratio in my car thanks.

Do you know how to set the backlash on the ring gear when you replace the bearing? Do you know how to set the pinion depth if you replace the gears?2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning

7.5". What kind of noise is it making? The 98-02 Torsen rear ends are not exactly quiet. Mine makes a rubbing noise in a left hand turn and it makes rattleing noises when coasting. It's not that loud but the rubber/polly bushings makes it louder.2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning

The 98's got Auburn rear-ends, the 99-02's got Torsen's. Like Jeff mentioned Torsens aren't as quiet as the Auburn or Eaton style rears.
As far as your stock rear-end ratio, it will depend on your RPO code. Look on your build spec sheet in your glovebox or in your door jamb(most common).
M6 GU6 3.42 Standard
A4 GU2 2.73 Standard
A4 GU5 3.23 Optional (standard gear set with an SS/WS6/Firehawk)
The ring gear on your Torsen is 7.5".

Actual factory HP on the 2000's was right around 350. The 01-02's got the LS6 intake which was good for another 5-10 HP.
13.50'ish is roughly the average for the automatics. 13.30-13.40 for the M6's.
Here is a pretty good collection of LS1 1/4 mile data. You can sort it by internally stock:

Your WS6 came with the GU5/3.23's so they are installed in a 3 series carrier. The GU2/2.73's are installed in a 2 series carrier. Make sure you get the 3 series gears if you in fact have the Gu5 RPO code. The ring gear thicknesses are different. Generally speaking, 3.08's and numerically lower are 2 series, 3.23's and numerically higher are 3 series.Originally posted by black00ws6i was just looking at ring and pinion sets at summit racing anybody know difference between a 2 and a 3 series carrier? Which one do i have thanks?
The real difference is in the carrier case mounting flange depth and the carrier break height. Carrier break height is the difference in one ring gear mounting height to another on the carrier case itself. This is referred to as the breaking point from one mounting height to another. The case mounting flange depth affects the relationship between the ring gear and pinion gear, more specifically the pinion gear centerline.
2 series ring gears have a greater case mounting flange depth due to the thicker ring gear. So just make sure you order the right gear set.

one last question for now
thanks for the info one last question for the night anybody know what rpm ill cruise at if i put in 4.10s at 75mph and a top speed esimate ihave 3.23s now with automatic stock size rims and tires for 2000 ws6. or just an idea of how much more rpm then now. Thanks for the input. I want to put in 3.73 or 4.10 gears but this is a daily spring summer fall driver so i cant get rediculous.
