I am going to change the airbox on my car from stock, but before i do this i need to know a few things. Right behind the stock airbox is this other plastic peice thats very thin where it connects the airbox to the connector that goes to the TB, but is fat and has 2 big bulges to the side. It holds a sensor in it which i think is the MAF, and then has another hose in it at the bottom. I dont know what the need for the extra plastic is, and i was wondering if i could relocate the things (and know for sure what they are) and eliminate the "middle" box all and all and just have the ram airbox go straight to the connector.

Look after the airbox, and befor the scrunchy connector.

The "plastic peice thats very thin where it connects the airbox to the connector that goes to the TB, but is fat and has 2 big bulges to the side" IS the MAF sensor..... metal body halves with a flat plastic piece sandwiched between them, and a black box with an electrical connector on the side. You can't remove the MAF sensor unless you convert your PCM to run in speed-density mode. This is the one for the LT1, yours is similar, just in a different location (courtesy of Shoebox):

I see that, but there is another censor that plugs into that black box, the maf is right in the middle of the line of flow just like the picture u gave indicates, but theres another one in the black box. Also if u know what the hose is on the bottom of the box i would like to know, i originally though it might be for condensation to let it drain, but if it was then it would be cming out the bottom and the hose would be on both sides.

IAT sensor. There should be a hole in the aftermarket airbox that you can insert it into.

There should be a 5/8" hose that supplies air to the secondary air (AIR) pump somewhere on the intake.
