  • 93 Fenders vs. 98 Fenders

Over on another Fbody board this guy updated his early 4th gen to look like a later 4th gen. He said that the fenders for the 98's and up were shorter than the fenders off of the 93-97's. Does anyone know if this is true? Just doesnt make much sense to me. Hell....other than the heat extractor scoops, they look just alike to me.

93-97 and 98-02 f-bodies are completely different from the a-pillar forward. If you observe, 98+ fenders are rounder, matching the contours of the new hood. Also the fenders are shorter to accomodate the new bumper and headlamp assemblies.

Completely different. That's why new ones look bolder, rather than sleek in the pre 98 versions.

Might help if you told us whether you were asking about a Camaro or a Firebird. Since you asked about exptractor scoops, we can guess its a Firebird.

Why not add a "signature" using the "Quick Links" button, so people don't have to ask you this every time you post? Its a lot easier to help someone and answer questions knowing the year of the car, the model, trans type and any major mods.

On the Firebirds, the 98+ fender are clearly shorter, just by looking at them. a "swap" involves the entire front clip including the hood, fenders, headlights, bumper cover, radiator support, etc.

When I bought my car it was well abused so it has some cracks here and there. When I went to buy some fenders off the same year car the man who had them told me for 1200 dollars he would sell me every thing I need to swap the front over from a 94 to a 98. Since I have to buy some new parts anyway do you think that is a decent price?

its not bout the price is just the fact if u want 2. it prob be easier to just sell ur car and get a LS1 car but if u cant and want a lil learning experince then go for it

Yeah I'll probaly just buy the same year model fenders and probally an aftermarket hood since thats the only thing I don't like about the front end.

There's "how to" writeup "stickied" on the "Appearance" forum at CamaroZ28.com, covering the swap on the Camaros. There used to be a similar writeup for the Firebirds at ProjectTransAM.com, but the link I had doesn't work any more. The guy who put the new T/A front on an older Formula spent about $2,500 on parts alone, but for some reason he used almost all new parts, rather than getting a clip from the junk yard. He did all the swap work himself, and I don't recall it being that difficult.
