  • I'm pumped - Big weekend coming up

    This Saturday-

9am to 6pm - Dyno Day at the local machine shop - $75 for 3 pulls
11am 1pm - Ferrari Club meeting hosted at Quaker Steak and Lube.
all day - City car show and carnival

I'm going to first go get the Z dyno'd, then go to the Ferrari club meet, then off to the car show to show off the car and the dyno graphs.

I've never dyno'd a car before so this will be interesting for me. I'm very excited. What should I expect for RWHP from my car? My mods are in my signiture.

That sounds awesome. Have a blast. Please take pics and share.

    Last Saturday.

Got up after only getting 3.5 hours of sleep so I could wash the 06Z.
Met a group of about 30 people at an area parking lot.
    Caravaned to one hooters.
    had lunch
    Cruised to another Hooters.
    had a drink
    Cruised to a third Hooters.
Had dinner and checked out cars that joined our cruise.
Left there and went to a big car cruise where they actually drove pro mod alcohol cars from the local track to the cruise. They did burnouts until the cops came.
Went to Side Pockets and had fun til the wee hours of the morning.
    Sunday. Didn't leave the house.
LS15 Power! Another LSx engine coming soon.

          My guess is 260 hp.

Depending on what type of dyno it is, I would say anywhere between 250-265 RWHP.

Dyno days are always fun! Take some pics and video if you can.

Quaker Steak and Lube huh? You were thinking of a t-bone as your typed this!

Nope, I typed it correctly. It's a restaraunt. They have a cruise night, and the inside is finished in cars. Entire cars. There is one wall that has a real Corvette hanging on it, like a picture. Then there are 4 point lifts with fully restored muscle car on them and dinner tables directly underneith. And then there are other oddsy-endsy race cars just hanging all over. Cycles too.

I did 35 laps in a Busch car at Memphis Motorsports Park a few weekends ago. That was kinda fun.

                Have fun, Tracy.

Very cool, I never heard of that restaurant before. Sounds like a pretty cool place to host a car show.

                      The results are in!

                      270 RWHP
                      310 RWTQ

This was on a Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer. The guy running the drno told me that this dyno tends to run a little on the light side and I should add another 10-15 hp to get a number comparable to a Dynojet.

My dad put his 455 Hurst/Olds up on the dyno. It had major air fuel problems and was so rich the wideband O2 sensor couldnt read it. First pull with 80 jets in the front and 78 jets in the rear, blowing black smoke netted him 235 RWHP.

The second pull with 76 jets front and rear got him 250 RWHP and a air fuel of 10.5

The third pull with 72 jets got him a 260 RWHP and a air fuel of 11.

With a bit more tuning, and the air fuel at 13.5 he should be up over 300 RWHP.

Considering roughly a 13% drivetrain loss with your M6, those are pretty healthy numbers.

The Dyno Dynamics is a load bearing chassis dyno and will therefore "usually" show lower numbers than say a non loading dyno.

Dyno Dynamics dyno's are really good for tuning because of their well know load control characteristics.

So that is like 310 flywheel hp. Not bad!

Yeah, I think that 310-315 at the crank is a pretty safe bet considering your mods.

I bet you can't wait for the 383 now!

Next mod is SLP midlength headers/y-pipe. I intended to do them earlier this spring, but money got tight. How many ponies will the headers give me?

Then - I'll concentrate on getting the 383 machined and assembled. At least the pieces look cool on a stand in the garage.
