  • HELP! Broken Plug

So during the process of replacing my water pump and servicing the Opti I decided to try and replace the #2 plug. You know the fun one underneath the AC compressor. It's the one I didn't get to previously when I did plugs and wires. Since I could actually kind of see it with everything nelse removed I got brave. But since I was really tired and not paying attention I ended up breaking the plug. Anyone have any suggestions on reaching that plug? Should I just go ahead and remove the AC? If I unbolt it is there enough wiggle room to get to the plug without venting the system? Help! I'm really tired and a little crazy right now.

    Thanks.

That plug is the hardest by far to get out. I have headers in my car so it may be a little diffrent from yours. I just did my plugs about a month ago and I had a lot of luck with slipping the spark plug socket on the plug then putting a open end box wrench on the end of the socket just to break it loose. Once again I have headers and this might not work for you. I also have a spark plug scocket with a universal joint built rite on, that helped as well. One thing I did get was a telescoping/ pivoiting head 3/8 ratchet from home depot. That helped a lot from a leverage standpoint and the pivioting head put me at just the rite angle to break that sucker loose. Hope this helps

OK. so I found out if you unbolt the AC itself (after removing the alternator, PS pump and tensioner) you can remove the mounting bracket and get to that plug with ease. Problem solved!!!
