I just won an auction for the original radio for my Z. The non-Bode CD. I cannot wait to get that Audiovox piece of garbage out!! I do not know what the original owner was thinking when he put that in there.?! I hope whoever installed it didnt butcher the wiring harness. I think it should be ok, though because the paperwork with the car included the stereo receipt from a professional installation shop. I'm thinking about getting some line-converters and running my Soundstream reference 405 nad some better speakers... That would sound great and look stock! Has anyone used converters like these?? Also how do I hook up the remote power lead to the amp?

Soundstream Reference 405 is a nice amp! I think the yellow wire is +12v switched (hot with ignition) you can check with a voltmeter.1995 Firebird Formula

In my Formula I had my amps hooked up to the stock 10 spkr(non bose)Cd player with a line out convertor and it worked fine and sounded good. I used the leads going to the rear(hatch) speakers. I think the pillar speakers have a mid bass X-over so don't use those. If you don't have the rear spkrs use the leads from the fronts. For the remote turn on for the amp I used the power lead for the power antenna. The colors are weird though so use a voltmeter to find wich one turns on and off with the radio so your amps aren't on all the time. Good luck and let me know if you need any more help....later
