P0751 Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off

The last two days has been quite an adventure. Try driving only in gears 2 and 3. Sucks.

So...I know I need to drop the pan to get to the solenoids, but where are they and how can get my hands on them. Autozone doesn't have them. Haven't tried Advance or Napa yet.

    See if this helps. http://www.jaredmonaco.com/garage/fi.../transmission/

A guy here at work has a S10 and he had to replace one. I think he said it cost $11. It took longer to jack and drain the fluid than to fix the switch.
2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning

    1995 Z28, many mods, SOLD

It is very rare that a solenoid in a 4L60E actually fails.

This code is very common with people who have installed trans coolers and/or higher stall converters. This code is usually harmless, but in some cases it can actually trip the PCM into putting the trans into limp mode. I would be surprised if there was actually a problem with the solenoid itself.

Try clearing the code and then resetting the PCM....and see if the PCM takes the trans out of limp mode.

Were you experiencing any shifting issues before the trans went into limp mode?

Well, I did install the tranny cooler. I resetted the PCM three times, and the first time, it acted normal for a bit...then the SES light came back and so did the problem. I resetted it two more time and both times, the problem exsisted. I did have the TCC valve malfunction awhile back and I fixed that. There isn't any slip and shifts smoothly. Beats me. The fluids is clean, only a month old. I bought new ACDelco solenoids for 15 bucks each. I'll just pop them in tomorrow.

Well, it's done. I hate working on tranmissions. It's so freaking messy, but the job is done. Replaced both A & B solenoids and she's happy again. If anything, she shifts quicker and smoother.

Job time 2 hours and 25 minutes and waaaay too many bolts.
