I think almost all cars with leather seating options have just the seated portions made of leather, and only the very expensive luxury cars have 100% leather all around. Even my Katzkin kit has vinyl on the back and sides.Comment

Actually, GM has been doing this for a very long time. If you look at a new car brochure, even back to the early 90s, the seats in various models are described as "leather seating surfaces". They had to do this to keep it legal, kind of a CYA thing. The surfaces (cushion and back, center) are leather but the sides of both the lower and back part are not true leather.
Not sure about the top of the line Caddys (DeVille, etc) but other Chevy's, Olds, Pontiac etc models were made this way going way back in time.Bruce
