  • Opinions on SLP Dual-Dual Catback...

I'm looking for a system that has a little more aggresive tone and than the stock exhaust. Magnaflow is probably close to what I'm looking for. Do any of you have exprience with the dual-dual system from SLP?

The dual/dual is the most aggresive exhaust you can get that doesn't make any sacrifices to daily use. It isn't loud enough to stop conversation, doesn't drone, is stainless, and flows very well.

It makes a great choice if you don't want the exhaust noise to annoy you at any time, and especially if you have more mods coming like headers or removing cats. Many other exhausts become unbearably loud when you start working with headers or no cats.

It is still a very quiet exhaust in terms of aftermarket, though. If you want your car to pick up attention due to the sound, it is not the right choice.

If you want to walk the line between as loud as possible but still manageable, try to find a car with a Corsa system and take a listen. On a car with stock manifolds the Corsa is just right and screams when you get on the car, yet is very mellow at idle and cruise.

      Thanks, Todd...

I had a Borla on my last car. In an auto with 3.42's it could get annoying on the highway. That's what I'm trying to avoid.

I tried ls1sounds.com, but most clips had headers and aftermarket y-pipes, that and it's difficult to estimate how loud it is.

I love the Corsa sound, but it's a bit pricey. I'm looking at good used systems to keep costs down. Around $300 shipped limits my choices. I found an SLP dual for $330 or so in good shape. I'll have to think about it.

Just a thought..... I had a borla rear section on my WS6 for awhile. I got it from Fred as used, it was not as loud as the catback, but still had a velvety performance sound. I don't know what your plans or HP level requirements, but a Borla Muffler back system combined with a cutout in fron of the catback for track duty was a nice combo. Quiet on the highway too. I may go back to that, the mufflex 4" has a drone in the 2000-2500 rpm range that makes cruising at that speed a chore. What it would sound like on an LS1 I can't tell you. It can't be as loud as my LT1 with headers and high flow Y pipe. If you are stock, it should be quieter than that. They can typically be found for less than $250 used on the net, they don't rust and you still get the Borla tips. Just a thought.....

Well, it's not a track car. I just want something with a little more bark. The power is fine now. I'd probably go with a Flowmaster except it's not stainless. Borla rear might be a nice option if I can find one. If it uses the stocker intermediate pipe it should be a relatively easy install too.

My wife and I are saving up for a place of our own someday, so I'm penny pinching. I guess I'll just be patient and see what comes up.
