  • Power Window Problems

Ok, I've seen the symptoms before on a Pontiac grand am, so I'm hoping others have seen in and know what the problem is.

I have not had any other problems with my PW before, but yesterday after leaving work, I rolled down the driver's side window due to the heat. After I was on the highway, I rolled it back up, but it only went up half way and stopped.

The switch is a brand new OEM switch that I just replaced about a year ago, because the other one physically broke.

While driving, it seemed if I waited a while, the window would move a little in either direction. (~1/2") The longer I waited, the more it moved. I would need to wait about 1 minute before I tried again. By the time I got home, (~15 min) I almost had the window up again.

The passenger window works just fine.

I'm thinking window motor (I hope not) or relay (could be easier to change than a motor...maybe?)
    Any other thoughts? Thanks

Agree with Joe. It's definitely the window motor. I'm having the same problem with my daily driver. I'm replacing the motor next week. Unfortunately, this will be the second time in four months I'm replacing it.

I guess that's what I get for buying a brand new window motor on Ebay for all of $7.99 shipped.

      Oh well... Live and learn.

Thanks for the replies. The symptom descriptions on the website are exactly what I am experiencing. Funny, because the passenger side is the slower window, so I would have thought that one would have failed first. Oh well, might as well replace them both.

dochidalgo, did you say you replace yours with $8 motors?!! Or did you mean $80?
