I am in need of a special fuel fitting and hopefuly you guys know where I can get one. I have a 94 Z and I am runing a gen 1 small block that is carbureted. I am useing a Carter in tank pump, a holley bypass regulator, and a stock type filter. I need a fitting that will convert the outlet of the fuel filter to AN. I know they exist because on Horsepower TV they had a 4th gen camaro with all braided line and AN fittings and a stock filter.

The easiest way would be to probably get yourself a NPT pipe tap. Make a nice clean cut on the hard line close to the filter and tap for the NPT fitting. Then you would just use a male to maleNPT to -AN fitting.

Aeroquip and Earls make these parts. Summit and Jegs both carry these brands and fittings.

What about the Earls compression fittings for converting a smooth end metal tube to an -AN connection?

I never tried the Earl's, but we tried some Competition Engineering compression hard line fittings on the fuel system on a '32 Ford Delivery and we had some leaks. That was at about 38-39 PSI(5.0L HO 302 from a Mustang).

        Maybe the Earl's are better.

I haven't used the Earles, but there's been a lot of good feedback on them on CZ28.com. There is an outfit that sells a -6AN conversion kit for the LT1 on eBay including the fittings and the lines from the hard lines under the rocker panel to the hard lines at the rails.

As an alternative, why not just switch to a fuel filter that allows you to use any kind of fittings you want? I have an SX (Essex) billet fuel filter that you can screw any type of fittings into, up to -10AN. I have -6AN inlet and outlet, and the filter is in the stock location. It has a replaceable filter element.

I actually have a fitting that I believe you are looking for. It came with my turbo kit. Male end plugs into the fuel filter and has pipe thread on the other end. I believe it is 1/8" pipe thread. I have a -4 an line attached to mine. However, here is the kicker. I have no idea who makes them or sells them. I don't think calling my turbo company would help considering it took them 15 months to get me my parts.

Yes, I guess you could use a pipe to -AN flare union right off the filter. I know Russel Performance makes them. I'm sure Earl's (Holley) and Aeroquip make them as well.

Thanks for the replys. Now I have to decide between adapting to the stock fliter, or get rid of it and get something with a replaceable element. Im sure something like injuneer posted would be a better filter, but would require a tad more work and money. As the car is now the fuel is hooked up as follows. Hard line from tank to filter, then from filter to regulator, regulator of course has a line back to the tank and the outlet of the regulator goes to the carb. Everything is Aeroquip socketless hose with AN fittings and to get the car up and running for temporary use to check everything I left a short piece of hard line comming out of the filter and clamped the Aeroquip hose to it. I want to get this fixed so I can move on to something else. Now that I have had some time to think it over, I think I will just go ahead and replace the filter with something better, like an Aeromotive or something. Sorry for the rambling, and thanks again for the replys.
