  • CC306 & springs question ---->

    Ok, I have a question about what kind of valvesprings to use with the CC306

    Can I use the LT4 locks/retainers/roller rockers but update the springs to these :

    CCA-941-16 COMP Cams Valve Springs
    Valve Springs, Single, 1.260 in. Outside Diameter, 447 lbs./ in. Rate, 1.130 in. Coil Bind Height

    Basically I'd be using the LT4 hot cam kit, without the cam, and without the LT4 springs. Just putting in a cc306 cam, with upgraded springs listed above.

    Thanks in advance!

    I don't know exactly about the retainers, but one thing to consider is that the GM roller rockers for the LT4 have a naarrower slot in them than aftermarket rollers and are OK at lower lifts, but might interfere with the studs if they have to pivot too far. So, do your homework on those before you put that combo together. Actually, you are so much better off getting a cam kit with all matched parts than trying to piece stuff together unless you have a tried & proved recipe. There must be 1000 guys on CamaroZ28 BB that have that cam, so go ask what they are using or do a search and read about it for a week.

      My opinion is that the cc306 is outdated, all bark and no bite. There are better and more modern grinds that will give you better results.

        Agreed.

        Shadyphi, check out the "Working on the top end" thread, or better yet, do a search for cc306 on this board or cz28.

        The cc306 is a very poorly designed camshaft IMO. There are MUCH better options out there that will make more power and drive much nicer.

          Yea, I can't make up my mind on cam's.... i've gone from the LT4 hot cam to the gm847, and now back to the cc306.

          A guy in my local car club has one, and I was quite impressed with his performance...

          So, I guess I'm just wanting something for now.......getting tired of changing my mind lol

            Can I ask why you are looking at 20+ year old cams in the first place?

            You should really be talking to a shop like Advanced Induction, Combination Motorsports, or Thunder Racing who are reputable and have a bunch of expereince with R&D'ing LT1 camshafts.
