  • ABS INOP and Traction Control Light

I have a 96 Camaro RS with the 3.8 and here lately the ABS INOP Light and Traction Control light will come on when i am driving and when this happens i don't have any brakes. I usually will put the car in neutral. then turn the car off and back on and the lights go off and i then have brakes again. anybody know whats causing this?

mine does the same, 95 formula
sometimes it works, but if i accelerate suddenly both lights come on. lately they come on all the time. I ve cleaned the rear abs sensors and it helped a bit. they are magnetic and all loose rusy metal coming from the old rotors stick to them and it makes contact with the toothed ring thing which i think gives wrong signals to the abs module.
i m still working on it and its been a quite a while now , i d just like to see what that traction control actually does and certainly i could use the abs

yeah , and saying that they work sometimes, they decided to work once at the race track , no need to say what a lousy start it was

when you say no brakes, that is no brakes at all or no abs? i woudnt drive it if it was no brakes at all

yea i mean no brakes i went to park one day and there wasn't any and i have the ground effects and it ruined the front one. so i haven't drove it in like a month. school is starting next week and i won't be able to drive my dads car so i need to fix mine.

assuming there is enough brake fluid in the system and no leaks i would chech the vacuum line to the brake booster, or the booster itself.

i would reccomend taking it to a shop, brakes are not someting you can try and fix if you are not sure what you are doing. its not worth the risk
