  • Need some help from you audio gurus...

ok well i installed a 4 channel alpine x3 amp and am powering my 2 door speakers (alpine 6.5's) and my 2 rear speakers (sony 4 way 6.5) but i was wondering if instead of hooking up yet another amp to this thing if i could just hook up a small 10 inch subwoofer to the existing amp and kinda bridge it off the existing amp....

You can run the door and rear speakers off of two channels and then bridge the other two for your sub. This will only work if your amp is capable of it.
LS15 Power! Another LSx engine coming soon.

You should take care to check the ohm stable ratings of your amp. Most newer amps are 2 ohm stable on a single channel, but it is not as common for them to be 2 ohm stable bridged.

Just make sure you don't drive it under it's rated ohm loaded. The amp will overheat, maybe blow a fuse, or in worst case just fry itself (not terribly likely).

        I would recommend considering this:

        - 2 front channels of the amp to your doors.
        - 2 rear channels of your amp bridged to your sub.
        - 2 rear head unit channels powering the sail speakers.

You can still have a fader this way, and head unit power is good enough for most people's rear-fill tastes. Since the sub and rears will be on the same setting, you may have to tweak the gains of your amp to make up for it, but I would not want to lose the fader ability front/rear.
