  • clunk, clunk sound coming from driver rear axle.

Ok i noticed this sound a few weeks back but it was so minor i never paid much attention but it was progressively getting louder. It sounds like a metal vs metal kinda sound coming from my driver rear wheel. Gets worse in left hand curves. id replaced bearings and seals and for a couple hours the noises gone. But, it come back noisier than before.Anyone got a clue? .

    thanks in advance.

Likely the axle shaft is worn or possibly bent beyond spec. Rather than just replace bearings and seals, I always check the integrity of all surfaces.

Could be a loose pan hard rod, pan hard rod brace, loose lower control arm, broken spring perch, loose caliper mount, etc., etc., etc. It is also not uncommon for the u-bolt/clamp to come loose on the rear sway bar.

Best thing to do is to jack up the rear and start looking. It helps to have a rubber mallet to tap around on stuff to see if you hear anything loose.
