  • Heater Hoses for a 97 LT1

Anybody know the part numbers for the heater hose with the bleeder valve in it. After a trip all three local auto parts and looking at the 10 or so samples they brought out, all wrong of course. I even tried GM parts direct, no luck there either. I am getting tempted to cut the bleeder out of the old hose and have a steel braided line made up. Has anyone made a braided line kit for the for this model? I looked at the Goodyear High mileage kit from Summit Racing, but it doesn’t show the bleeder valve. Any help would be greatly appreciated, getting kind of tired of chasing hose part numbers instead of planning my next upgrade.

All of that (#1 thru #21) is sold as a 1 piece assembly. It is not available separately.
        GM PART # 10261147

        GM LIST: $140.68
        OUR PRICE: $73.16
It's a PITA to change. I bought one when mine developed a leak in what is part #12. The hoses are clamped with a machine and are not removable. Well sort of. I took a pair of wire cutters and nibbled the clamp off of where #12 clamped to #13. Then I went and bought a hose the same diameter with a bend in it. I cut it to match and used a regular SS clamp to secure it. It's been that way for several years now. The new hose assembly (10261147) is still sitting on the shelf.

Yes, those are GM numbers. Any of the hoses can be bought by themselves. You can Dremel a groove in the swaged couplers and "zip" them off (don't cut into the pipe underneath). Then, you can put a new hose on with regular hose clamps.

That's weird. I tried to buy the little piece that I needed and the Chevy dealership computer said not available. It said I had to buy the whole assembly.

Most of the hoses were available at AutoZone, the problem was that there were not any diagrams just descriptions that did not make any sense to the parts clerks or me- pipe 3 to water pump, pipe 2 to valve etc. I did check with a friend of mine at the local speed shop, if I can get the complete assembly off, they will make a steel braided line set for both heater hoses for about $50, he owes me a couple of favors so I expect it would cost about $100 retail.
