  • Console Ash Tray Door

    Its the little things that bug me....like now the flip-up door on the console ash tray broke on one side and flops around.

    Is this door removable and replaceable? I think i remember seeing one on ebay but its not there anymore. It looks like there is some kind of wire/spring under the door that allows it to open and close but I cant see any way of getting it out. Do you have to take off the whole console?

    it's easy...the door is spring loaded. just remove the top section of your center consol and you can see the door is just hinged by two little plastic sections. pull the old one off and wiggle in the new one in with the spring loaded of course. it's easy. taking the consol off is the hard part.

        mine was like that when i bought my car. Kid said it was broken. It turned out being fine, just had to be popped back into place.

          Lift your console lid (arm rest) and pull your coin holder, there are two screws, unscrew them. Then pull your shift knob off...there is a staple in front of the knob, pry it off and the knob should slide off. Now, slowly and gently pull the cover from the armrest up, everything should snap out and you should be able to see connections for your DC power and cigarette lighter.

          It's a snap...no pun intended.

            thanks. I may have to try that. I know for sure mine is broken - I saw the plastic around the hole broken off on one side. I tried to krazy-glue it, and it worked for a while but eventually broke off again, and i have no idea where the little piece is now. So I will have to replace it one way or another. I dont see any on ebay so I guess I will have to order one from the dealer.
