  • Dim Tail light and brake light on Firebird, help

I have a 96 Firebird and my passenger side tail light and brake light is very dim. I replaced the bulbs but it didn't help.

I had a 97 bird a few years ago and it had the same problem on the same side.

Is there a way to fix this?

Look for a bad ground. Or make a new one.

Is there a ground at the rear of the car for that part of the harness??
If so, do you happen to know where it is located?

I am havnig the same problem on the same side. Only the lights aren't dim, the lense is darker on the passenger side. It looks as if I have a bulb out. Very annoying!

Same problem.... except the darker lense is on the DRIVER'S side !!! All bulbs are the same intensity.... I discovered that moisture had been getting inside the right side taillight lense, and after a period of time, the moisture will cause the chrome plating, that is on the plastic, to become pitted. This reduces the visible light output, by lowering the reflectivity inside the lense.

I'm getting a new one from Dal (lockitup@bright.net) for $166.69 That's almost $80 dollars cheaper than the local dealer !!!

Ok is the lenes darker than the other side. Or are the bulbs dimmer on that side. Yes you have a ground wire back there. Get a $5.00 test light an check it.Let us know what you found.
