Anyone know of a good way to remove brake rust from chrome rims?

Aluminum foil is actually one of the best "sponges" to use.

I used to use very fine steel wool but many people said the fibers imbed in the chrome, particularly if it is already pitted or of low quality.

Aluminum foil (crumpled up, with the edges working for you) works really well with a cleaner and the aluminum is softer than the chrome.
