I got a security light at top right corner when i start my car then goes off does that mean i have security alarm i never could figure out how to turn it on?

do a search on vats. That system is a biatch when it goes bad. My security light used to do that, then about 2 years ago it came on and never went off. I was told that my VATS was bypassed, otherwise my car wouldn't start.
That system will leave you stranded. The security light is supposed to come on for a few seconds when you first turn on the key. All the lights come on during that time.Tracy
