Formula lenses are more expensive and also have better resale value.

You should be able to find someone willing to do a swap or sell yours then buy honeycombs...

The LT1 formula lenses are higher quality though, and the look is not as common...

What's the difference between the 93-97 Formula tail lights and the corresponding years' Trans Am's?

I think he was referring to those. The base firebird lenses didn't have the black accenting in the lens, they were a bare red.

Yah, there's not difference LT1 Formula/TA. I just meant that of all the tails used over time... the LT1 Formula/TA lenses were markedely more solid... they are harder to find used... and they used to be more expensive as service parts.

I had a tail light get busted on my 93 Formula and at the time (maybe around 2000 sometime?) new honeycombs were like $150 a set while new Formula lamps were closer to $350. So finding a buyer should be pretty easy should he want to take that path. I liked the honeycombs at the time but the flatline style lamps stick out more now and have aged well. They also look a lot better at night, imho.

I also assumed from your name you are indeed talking about a Formula. If it is a base Firebird then yah, those older base lamps were pretty fugly imho.

i find the 93-97 lt1 lights looking more 'american' , you can tell from the distance its no asian p.o.s ..i like them, the red part inside and you cant see where the bulb is like on so many other cars, i think they are a really good aesthetic and functional design, add personality to the car , like the older muscle cars

I actually meant i liked the LT1 lights better... they are really a higher quality piece and the light throw is so much nicer.

But they were more expensive when I had the break so I went with the new ones...
