  • Heater Core (again)

89 Z-28 with air conditioning and about 130K miles. Is there any other plausible explanation for constantly, but lightly, fogging windshield other than a leaking heater core? I have already replaced the heater core in this car once (at around 90K miles) -- a job I would rather not repeat. On that occasion, the fogging was heavy with a noticeable aintifreeze odor -- symptoms that are not present this time. Is it possible that the a/c drain hose is plugged up? Is the drain hose visible from the underside of the a/c box under the hood? I've been under there a zillion times but never noticed it.

Sounds like the core. I know it sucks, but just because you replaced it 40k ago, doesnt mean it cant be broken again. I just replaced the core on my 3rd gen last week. Although it wasnt that bad... I still hope to never have to do it again.

This is kinda a long shot, but try some aluminized radiator stop leak... take off the heater hose to the inlet of the core and put some in there (not much just alittle 1/4 of the bottle maybe) and put the rest in your system!

this stoped my Mustang heater core leak for about 6 months, lol

      Later,
      Jake

Thanks, Jake. Was gonna try the stop leak in any case, but hadn't thought of hitting the heater core directly with an overdose. Six months would get me through the winter anyway!

No Prob. that was the idea with mine also, lol, also gave me some time to save $$$ a heater core in my '96 Stang cost about 75 bucks and $425 worth of labor!
