  • ATI Supercharger?? Yes or No?

I was talking to a man who worked for ATI in Kansas City, (looking for a job) He honestly beleives that i could run 11s with a stock LT1 on 18 PSI dual intercooled....now im not stock...I did the math..That is a 97% horsepower gain. Has anyone botherd to muster $4400 to buy a dual intercooled ATI supercharger...I have a good size settlement check coming.... (also buying a GSR1000 *_*) What would u suggest for my "pain and suffering"

But......how is the bottom end and pistons going to keep on the inside, instead of on the outside, and behind you on the street? Can the Lt-1 be re-inforced enough to handle 18 psi boost?

No way a stock LT1 is going to stay in one piece. The ring lands will crush at just over 8psi intercooled or not. In order to run that kind of boost, you will need forged pistons, steel crank, preferably 4 bolt splayed main caps, perhaps 8.5 to 1 compression and high octane fuel. People have tried to do it with stock internals and turned the internals into chunks of junk.

You might just do it...once. Then you could get your credentials to the 11 Sec Cub, and membership to the LT1 Rebuild Club as a bonus. Heck, if I heard someone was going to try that, I would drive the 50 miles to the track and pay $10 just to be there when it went down. Really, you should save the money from the blower and just do a 200 shot of nitrous. Then you would have more left for the rebuild.

18# of boost is alot to put through a stock LT1 or LS1. You'd be lucky if the motor actually stayed together for 1320 feet at wide open throttle. 8# is the max that I would use with the stock LT1 bottom end. If your thinking about making 18# the compression should be dropped to between 8.5- 9:1 compression.

This kit is available for less much less than $4000.
