  • another "shaking"

My 96 camaro z 6speed is having a little trouble, when starting out in first it shakes pretty significantly (seems like it shakes mid to rear of the car) like it is going to stall. Once it starts going drives great , ive had it where shifting into 2nd /3rd it gives a little shake but just like 1 shake right after letting of clutch, any ideas anyone? if you need any other info let me know

Possibly a bronken transmission mount. If you rev it and let out the clutch fast, the transmission may even lift up and bang against the floor of the car.

mine was doing that only every now and then, it threw a code for a o2 sensor, i replaced it and that fixed the problem

mine does the same thing, and my ses light is on. I dont have a scan tool so i gotta bring it somewhere. Mine is gettin pretty bad, how can u tell the difference between the sensor and the tranny mount?

As joe said, a bad tranny mount would create a bang under hard acceleration. You can get an irratic idle for a number of reasons, you should do a scan if your SES light is on. A bad O2 would create a lumpy idle until is PCM swtiches over to a closed cycle after a few seconds of spitting...then the idle will be smooth again...you'd notice a intense smell of gas from your tail pipes too.

secondary air injection system is the what it thew when i scanned it, which if im not mistaken is egr valve any opinions?

and just to clear up it doesnt shake at idle, just when shifting or pulling out in first

Air injection and EGR are two seperate systems. The EGR is a valve that introduces exhaust gas back into the intake manifold for a cooling effect of the combustion event. Air injection introduces additional air into the exhaust to promote a more effecient burn and aid the catalytic converter in reducing emissions.

Exactly what code did you get?

Hey my SES light is on and i scanned a bad right o2...could this be the cause of a semi rough idle?

you can get rid of the secondary air injection system or "SMOG". it's really simple you'll just have to plug the hole's in your exhaust manifolds and remove all of the tubing. i did it on my '95 TA when i installed my supercharger. but you'll have to get a custom tune to remove the emissions codes that trip the ses light. unless there's another way to rid them. I don't know if you have to make emissions though if you do then you can't take it off.

well its all fixed, it turned out, since i recently purchased the car and the guy who i bought it from said he put a new clutch/flywheel in recently, i checked there and the flywheel for whatever reason was installed wrong and it caused the clutch to fry. i put a new clutch and flywheel in and runs mint now.

as for the secondary air i had a leak in 1 of the hoses , replaced it , light is gone, just had the car inspected and everthing is good to go
