  • Snapped A Control Arm

Last night on my way to school I felt a pop when I was making a right hand turn and the whole way to school the steering was off and the car was all shaking.

I was hoping that this peice of undercarriage that I took off had just come loose and it was knocking on something.

I put it in nuetral and pushed it a few feet and the passenger front tire was unstable.

Do you guys think it's worth an extra 200$ or so to get a high performance set up like spohn/bmr arms with relocator brackets?

If you have the money i say might as well replace it with something performance minded if you have to replace it anyway. Especially since you spending money anyway.

I have a rule that says you can't replace a stock part with a stock part if a better part is available. LOL

I think I would vote for that if it were amended as follows:

"can't replace a stock part with a stock part if a somewhat reasonably priced better part is available"

Yeah I don't really have the spending money that I used to since I just bought a home. I'm actually some what screwed.

Do you guys think I did any damage by driving it about 10 miles with a broken lower arm?

You might have... It all depends was it rubbing bad when you hit a bump or turned? I don't think I've ever seen a control arm break without hitting something. Are you sure it's the control arm and not a ball joint or a bushing?
                Just a thought... Good luck.

my thoughts too. A broken control arm would usually seperate and that's a very bad thing. A bushing could go south and at least it's retained. A ball joint could be badly worn giving you the same thing.
