  • Clutch Resevior

Allright, I had a new slave installed last month along with a new clutch. Had the system bled twice and it was ok for a few weeks, but just this week I'm noticing the same soft peddle I had before. Checked the clutch resevoir and noticed the rubber sleeve that fits below the cap was missing. Is this the cause of my problem? Or do I just need to get the system checked out again.

    Any advice is appreciated!

I highly doubt this is the problem. Chances are the clutch had been broken in. As long as you notice that the clutch is catching lower u know its ok. If you had a clutch b4 that cought high up and its the same now than there is some problem and an adjustable Master Cylinder might be in order. But I am not 100% sure. I just changed my clutch like 2 weeks ago, and mine was the opposite, mine was super hard, So i performed the "Drill Mod" to the Hydrolic line and bingo, the problem was fixed and I can tell the difference from when I had my old clutch.

Which clutch did you end up getting, btw?

Joe, your problem sounds like a leaky master cylinder. Probably not the slave. Try a rebuild kit. It's really easy to do.

OK...I didn't think it would be the little diaphragm. All the same I'll find a replacement for the reservoir. The slave, LS7 clutch, and LS2 pressure plate were all replaced the first week of November.

The slave was replaced due to a very soft peddle, especially at high rpm's. The original clutch was still in the car at 80k, and it started engaging only an inch above the bottom of the peddle travel. The new clutch was put in only because the tranny was already out of the car.

The new clutch was engaging lower than the stock before the stock had it's problems. It's come up a bit since breaking it in, which I would think to be normal. Now I'm just worried about the soft peddle again. It's feeling like it was before I had the slave replaced.

I'll have it looked at again at F-body Central since they did the work before.
