  • possible tranny issues?

yep been awhile since i posted here lol but about 3 weeks ago i started the car up and i hear a slight tick well i just thought it maybe a lifter or something sticking or a just cause of the cold start-up...well it went away and well now it doesnt...its loudest when i put the car in reverse and a friend used one of those stethoscopes (probably spelled wrong) and he pin-pointed it coming from the tranny....i have NO check engine lights no loss of oil pressure nothing..drives fine just the noise...i have that B&M shift kit in it and i thought maybe it had done some damage...im not sure though i suppose ill have it checked out at a tranny shop tomorrow...i would appreciate any info you guys might have thaks in advance :-D

from the sounds of it it might be torque converter related. damaged converter or loose bolts maybe. but are you possitive that the noise is coming from the trans, bellhousing, etc...

Maybe you have a cracked flywheel (its called something else on an A4, I just can't think of it right now). Anyway the wheel the starter catches to turn the motor over sometimes cracks or maybe one of the bolts that holds it to the torque converter is loose or missing.

SFC( not sure what kind), drilled/slotted rotors, K&N air filter, all free mods, 3" Borla cat back exaust, electric exaust cut out, NGK spark plugs, royal purple motor oil, and Zaino .Maybe more. I find more stuff done to it everytime I look at it.

its the tranny..had it looked at today..im not even gonna bother rebuilding it im just gonna buy a new one...they said the shift kit is probably what affected it..they said it wasnt installed right go figure lol...oh well i thought it was gonna be the engine and i was in no position to buy a new LS1..so a new transmission is much better lol...

The transmission is in!..Only took 9 hours to put it in lol...I had no idea that the torque converter was that heavy haha...Its ridiculously weird driving it without that firm shift...of course when i get her running again it snows :-(
