I've got a 91 transam 5.0 automatic. I just got her to apss inspection and drove her for a few miles yesterday. I am getting some really big front end noise as the car starts moving .... the faster i go the louder it gets. I believe this to be the wheel bearings. does anyone agree? thanks guys

jack it up and turn the front wheels, see if there is noise...should turn without any issues or noise other than the brake pads See also if there's excessive play by grabbing the 10 and 5 oclock and 3 and 7 oclock positions on the tires and twisting it. There shouldn't be much play if any at all...if you can get to move and hear noise doing so, I'm with ConElite, the bearings are shot.

when i twist no noise no play. when i turn the wheel by hand .... definetly noise. i will chalk this up to my own stupidity oif changing the calipers and the rotors ... but using the old wheel bearings cuz i was broke at the time. the funny thing is though ... i wasn't getting this noise a 40 miles ago when i first did this. Maybe i just put them in wrong? should i be rotating the tire clockwise or counter clockwise when tightening in the bearing with the castle nut? when i inspected the bearings it looked just as good as new ones. but then again ... I am far from knowing .... thank guys1991 Pontiac Trans Am V8 305
