  • brakes pull violently

    1991 pontiac transam 5.0

I had the brakes [professionly bleed cuz i belived i had air in the system. well I hit the brakes and i get a violent pull to the right. The caliper works , it is new. So i belive it could be one of two things. Eiether the caliper just isn't working fully properly or there is something in that particular brake line. When I bleed the brake myself ... the fluid was coming out as it should. So is it possible that the caliper could just be working sub-par even if it is not leaking? Help please! Thanks guys.

It could be that. How did you bleed the brakes? Did you use a "one man bleeding" kit or you had someone inside pumping and one opening the bleeder. It could be the Brake line is no good. I had a case that it would pull and pull and we had replaced the caliper and all that and we tried changing the brake line and sure enough that was it. What was happening was that when the line came under pressure it would swell up.
    Hope that help.

No break expert here but if the car pulls to the right, it could be that the left side isn't working at all

Had that with my Vette years ago. the calipers on the left were leaking and when breaking hard the car would pull to the right once almost of the road.

which wheel is the hottest? is the left side bleeding out fine? if so, replace the rubber brake line on the right side. if not, replace both brake hoses and make sure the left caliper is moving free. lube up everything that the caliper slides on, including those lil 1" metal "tubes" that the bolts go thru.

i did the 2 person bleeding technique. then i had it professsionaly done. i guess i just might have no choice but to change that brake line which should be rather annoying and require another bleeding errghrgrgrehge. if anyone thinks with caliper being new and not having any leaks that there might be a chance it is working sub-par just due to it being no good (which i highly doubt) changing the brake line seems to be the only solution. the only thing is when i was bleeding in the 2 man position ... the brake fluid coming seemed to be the right amount and all but then again .. we weren't stomping in it ... so i guess change the brake line and see what happens... thanks guys.
